Rachel's Challenge

So last Thursday our school had the "Rachel's Challenge" presentation. So you don't know what it is? well see I'm here to tell you, I'm so informative. Long story short, Rachel's Challenge is a program that surrounds the beliefs and ideals of Rachel Joy Scott, the first person killed in the Columbine High School shootings in 1996. Her father and family find her journals, essays and other writings urging for a more kind and compassionate nation, thus Rachel's Challenge was formed to do just that. The presenter was Craig Scott, Rachel's brother who was in the library were most of the shooting took place, he also witnessed his two friends being shot and killed. He showed us videos and actually footage and talked about Rachel and her life. It was the moving and inspirational thing I ever saw, I cried. It really made me think about life and everyone who I love and care for and even those I could care less about. It really opened up my eyes. Though Rachel is gone her profound message is reaching the nation. I myself, accepted Rachel's Challenge :)
Rachel's Famous Quote was personally very inspiring:
"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same"

A Horrible Day

Well lets just say, first, that I got another, another chance to help out FOM (Friesians of Majesty) at the Topsfield Fair horse show, so the owner, Bob was undecided on going so I find out today that hes not going, WTF! I was pissed, until I heard what the reason was; hes in the hospital. O.O I almost broke donw i ntears right then! He got a staph infection on his ankle and it killed red blood cells so his count was very low and hes lost alot of blood, and was in bad shape. Screw the show, one of my favorite horse persons who I like friggen love him is in the hospital, I was crying all afternoon after I heard. My prayers are going out to him. Keeping it positive, he will pull through! :/

You're kidding right?

All I can say is @#%$@#&^$%!%^# Well. You know that thing I said in my last post, about going to the topsfield fair to help out FOM. Well they cancelled the WHOLE fair for the day because of the rain. Who was a pissed off little pissy pot? ME! So no indoor performances no nothing, and my mom made her famous chicken wings! Oh I was so upset! Damn weather! >:(

It just got better.

So you kow how in my last post I said how I couldn't go to the Big E and help with Friesians. Well last night my mom told me that Bob(the owner) called and asked us if we would help out at the Topsfield Fair in thier night performances. So next saturday we will be going there and helping out. I have my SAT test that day in the morning but It'll be good to look forward to something after. Wait, this gets better, mom was a bit confused with what day exactly we would be going, turns out that the shows are TOMORROW! not next saturday, this saturday!!! :D Thanks goodness it wasn't next saturday because I probably would be able to concentrate on my test. xD So I'm even more super excited for tomorrow now. Yay! :D:D:D

Cause ya had a bad day

So this past firday I was waiting with a friend to go out to dinner, we were waiting on our other friend who to make the story go faster, didn't show up until 8:30 so we didn't go out to dinner, really we just drove to the local pizza place and got food there. While waiting though we got an important phone call, it was our good friend Bob, with the friesians, so was like omg what does he want , and like hovering over my mother, yes, he's that awesome i must hear what he has to say, so after the call I found out he asked if my and mom would carry their banner in the Big E parade. There was only one bad thing, I had to go to New York to a college open house. I was so upset becaus I really wanted to go. So for the next like 15 hours I was in a slump. Oh to make it worse I acciently hit my moms car backing out of the garage at night. FML. That was not a good day. Wow a blog that wasn't about horses. Wow.

Oh no you didn't

Speaking of my last post about the show, I really don't like riders sometimes, especially in the warm-up ring. Now there is the main ring and the jumping ring and that's the only places to warm up. Well you have the fields too. So before my division thee was 15 min warm up, for anyone so there was about 14 riders in the ring. I was mostly walking a little trotting and keeping an eye out for all the other riders, left shoulder to left shoulder, yeah, did all that. So most of the other riders were walking and trotting and one of two were cantering in perfect control and were well aware of the other riders. So I see these three little girls under 14 just acting like they own the ring, yelling to eachother, riding around on thier 5 year old horses. and being a little rude. Weaving in and out of the other riders so they can canter and trot. The ring isn't that big and any more then 10 or so it crowded, so of course their trots are fast and not very in control, their canters are like gallops and they were just rude. Oh and to top it off this girl on her paint who was really getting pissed, head in the air, ears back, 5 years old was bragging about her pathetic braiding job. Picture this, nice little button braids with hair sticking straight up coming out of them. It was very sloppy. So I didn't like my warm-up because of those girls. >.<

Better late than never.

Wow I didn't even put my wonderful show results with the last show I did, so away we go...

10 riders in my W/T division

W/T Eq. - Did Not Place
W/T Pleasure - Did Not Place
W/T Command - 2nd out of 10
W/T Cross Rails - 3rd out of 5

Yeah, a way to crowded show. there was like over 30 horses/riders there, and its a small-ishy schooling show. Well, it was the last of the season.

What Zee Hell?!?!?

So i'm flipping though the latest issue of Equine Journal, ahh, I love it. I make my way to the back of the magazine to all of the advertisings and such and my eyes spot something horribly horrific...Friesian Mules. *jawdropeyebleaching* Now who was the Harvard graduate who thought it would be a kool @$$ idea to come up with that cross??? Now i've seen this ad before but now it really caught my attention. So yet again it comes up that, if its black, has feathers, stunning features, and oh its a Friesian we must discrace the breed and hey add a little Friesian to your foal. I can deal with some other inventions with Friesians but this one gets the Most Likely To Make You Grab The Eye Bleach Award. Congrats!!! >.<

Poor Djuk and Feddy

So I got the results from the Keuring a few days ago and other than the fact about Othello not getting approval, another big WTF moment is staring right at me. Djuke, a filly out of a Model Mare, Ymkje(New England's first Model Mare) and I think she's by Feike 395, could be wrong, I don't really know. So back in July when Friesians of Majesty had their yearly Keur Clinic, the brought out the oh-so-cute, Djuke. So the judges are looking her over and taking a long time to analyze her. The judges don't say anything so Bob asks them whats wrong with her. They look at eachother and say, "Nothing" Translation: This is a flawless filly. Impossible? no, not to these guys. 2 or so months later the oh so friggen wonderful Keuring comes. This flawless filly, this perfect-in-each-and-every-way filly is being presented, the results...a 3rd Premie!!! A 3rd Effing Premie!!! WTF! Now 3rd Premie isn't..err. bad, but its not good. 3rd Premie foals cont for about 50% of the population it indicates a good Friesian. 2nd Premie, a very good quality Friesian and 1st Premie Friesians are of exceptional quality. This being judged on the breed standard. A lot of us were shocked by that. Seriously, WTF judges.

Well the colt that I fell in love with, Fedrick also got a 3rd Premie I believe, but for him it was because his star was too big. He's still cute though. ^^

Twas not a good keuring. >:(

The not so kool Keuring.

Well my mom went to the Friesian Keuring today, well day two of it. The babies all went today. She saw all of our friends at Friesians of Majesty and yeah took photos and videos of their horses. It was fun seeing the surrogate, chestnut mares in with the black friesians, Ha! So I hear later on that it wasn't a good keuring for anyone, no one was safe from the judges uber, super critical inspection. A first premie, a few second premies, a ster, and a crown mare, eh, not really eventful. To top it off, the super beautiful, amazingly awesome, stellar stallion, Othello did not get approval. Which slapped a wtf moment in all of our faces, and I wasn't even there. Everyone must of been very disappointed. Bleck!

In a rut in a nutshell

To make a really long story short, I just had a bad day with Cookie. It seems like we are not improving or moving on up as I would like us to do. We have our ups and downs but I want more ups and less, down on want to get bigger and better with her. She's 10 years old, trained, and has been there done that. But with me it doesn't seem that we can work on our problems together and solve them. We need to work on speed control, in an indoor, since she is not used to them and when I go in one she is a speed demon. I feel like she isn't responding to her loose-ring snaffle as well anymore. I did alot of walk/trot/halt/backing transitions and I know it wont come overnight but she knows this and i think i'm asking her the right questions but I don't know. I just need to get back into a lesson program with her so we can finally move forward.

Haven't seen one of those in a while

So I put my shoes on and just start to walk out the door to the barn when I see...a lone coyote. It was so unexpected, I haven't heard them of heard of anyone seeing any including us who live in the woods. I just stood there, actually almost trembling and on the borderline of peeing my pants because it was like a total wtf moment. He...or she I don't now, stopped, turned and looked at me and trotted away into the woods. I did not want to walk out there in the dark alone. I'm a chicken. xD So hopefully I don't hear any or see any more. That sighting ruined the whole non-coyote sighting and hearing of the season and most of the year. Bleh. >.<

Lets See..

Well, I haven't done anything here in while it seems. Well I had a show yesterday. Did ok-ish. Umm I go back to school Wednesday. I visited Lake Erie College a few weeks ago. I rode Jasmine today. There really hasn't been anything too exciting going on right now, but I
ll let you know when something does. My computer is being stupid so I'm on a laptop which I usually hate so no cool links are weird finding since i'm not on it all the time since I have to share it with my sister. Well that's my life so far. Isn't it so awesome? :D

Losing masculinity?

I was wondering on some of those wonderful sale websites and came across some geldings and stallions that had names that were less than masculine. Do people really put any thought at all in naming thier horses? Lets learn by example.

8 yr old Friesian gelding -Bennypal
First off the add says this horse is FHANA reg. so if he's 8 years old and was born in 2001 his name should not start with a "B" 2000 has the year for A, B and C names. I'm just hoping this is just a silly litle barn name, cause thats a horrible name for a friesian. Bleck!

7 yr old Friesian stallion - Mami
Picture this; a glorious well muscled Friesian stallion galloping across a meadow, long, flowing mane and abundant feathering. His expression says "Yes, I'm beautiful, look at me" His name, which we would guess to be a masculine as this awesome presence...Mami. O.O really now? for a nice stallion, really? goodness any stallion should have a manly name. Again, a reg friesian at 7 years old should not have a name starting with "M" 2002 year of G, H, I. Get with it people. >.<

This one just sucks. Friesian Gelding - Nukks. WTF were you thinking, sounds like Nuts. O.o

Friesian Sport Horse Gelding - Melisa. WTF thats my name! xP

Friesian Gelding - Funky

Friesian Gelding - Dukky

Friesian Gelding - Lili (Really, no lie. )

These names were really on sale ads. I don't care if thier barn names or anything, they suck!

Deep-fried show day

It was Cookie's first show of the season, our usual schooling shows. I've only done 5 shows now. So I like them alot, good place to start and get used to showing. IOt was a HOT, HOT, HOT day. I mean hot and humid which I think is was worse than 90 degree dry heat. Luckily we parked in the shade. So this isn't a big story, we did good. two 3rds and two 4ths of of 7 in our Walk/Trot division. It was just hot as hell which made showing alittle annoying. And of course after my classes the judge said we could take our jackets off. Could of told me sooner. xD

My Friesian Paradise!

Well this past sunday I returned from my week long Friesian extravaganza at Friesians of Majesty, oh it was beyond wonderful, amazing! There is so much that happended I'll just give you the highlights. I rode a fabulous gelding namesd Gurbe, his canter is a dream! I learned to drive which is amazingly fun!!! I saw all 10 new babies and got to handle some bringing them back to the barn. I got to help out with a bus show, rode up in the carriage with Bob and got to proudly wear red and black. I now know all 7 geldings by name in the gelding barn, I felt so accomplished! Saw an ultrasounding and insemination of 2 of the only 9 Model Mares in the United States! The first two Model Mares in New England. It was just the best week at FOM ever!!! I'm also so close to getting a job up there maybe an internship next summer! Woo Yeah! :-D The Best! Life is good at FOM!

I'm surpised

I know equine.com is a good site so anyone advertising on it would know what thier talking about, give good information on a horse or product they're selling and put up a stud fee for a worthy stud. Now I was looking at the Friesian stallions standing at stud and was glad to find that no random backyard breeder put their not-worthy stallion up. All the ones I saw were Ster stallions, dressage/ect. champions and came from amazing lines. Yet you really don't see many crappy Friesians out there especially stallions since quality breeding is number one priority. So i'm glad that I saw some good quality Friesian stallions up for stud, some were for cross breeding though but seemed like good enough stallions. I rather see approved stallions being used alot than just a unapproved stallion but i'm impressed with what I've been seeing. Anyways you don't see any FPS approved stallions advertising on equine.com or dreamhorse.com they're too good for that, just look at FHANA's site, they're all there. :-)

Oh Damn, more like Holy Sh*t

I first saw this video from a link on Facebook. This was one hell of a day at this horse show, a driving class at I believe and Arabian breed show, I could be wrong. Words used to describe this particular event: Crazy, Scary, Horrific, OMFG, Holy Sh*t, and a few others that I can't think of at the moment. The statement in the video, "What Would You Do" hell I'd piss my pants. This clip is pretty crazy and a little horrifiying (if I spelt that right) so viewer beware. Or you can say to hell with this i'm watching it. xD I've heard that no horses were harmed during this, you be the judge of that. Yet I also heard that the last horse did have to be put down.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03YcT74h5Mg&feature=channel_page

At one point, some guy decides to be Superman and try to stop the speeding horse, well lets see, frantically running horse + random guy stepping in front of frantically running horse trying to stop it = a big case of the ouchies.

Are you selling or giving a seminar.

I saw this and it just me take more than just a double take. I went "Hu" a few time also.

I have three horses males for sale. They are black, They are named Nina, Gina, and Vina .These horses are very intelligent and have tremendous stamina, an iron constitution, and high courage, combined with a calm temperament. A buyer should have information and handouts on caring for them, info on how to feed a gelding. you should already have some riding experience. You should understand your riding abilities and limitations. Horses should suit the style and the temperament of the rider that is why the animal?s temper should be checked as well as its physical condition. Their temperament ranges between 1-5 average. they are dressage too They are of a height of 14-14.2 hands. These animals have a average temperament. They posses an eye-catching fast trot, together with stamina, agility and a calm, sensible nature. They make excellent family companions..They have every of their papers and they are open to vex checked.they have handout on how to go about with them. besides that they like sports and need open space to be comfortable.if you interested contact us ASAP

Does this seller think we are stupid. Lets all go get a "Horses for Dummies" book. And of course we need a seminar on how to feed a gelding. Well, how about feeding a mare and stallion, is this gelding a super special rare breed that you can't feed it like a normal horse. I can see if its underweight or overweight but it was not stated. They are dressage too, is that a new breed? I don't know if this seller was selling horses or giving out info about them. Oh this ad just makes me want to sit in a corner and explain the meaning of life to myself.

The words White and Friesian don't go together.

Yeah no shit.

Eurodressage F.O.C.U.S Nero, the White Mystery Friesian at Equitana 2007 March 21, 2007 The picture of the white Friesian that was published in Eurodressage's Equitana report earlier this week has caused quite a stir among readers worldwide. So, here's the story behind this unusual crowd-pleaser: If you're familiar with Friesians, you know that some of them suffer from inbreeding problems. Thirty years ago, the German-based Hillner family received permission from the Dutch Queen to cross-breed several Friesian mares with Jalisco, an Arab stallion standing at stud at Gestuet Marbach, to get some fresh blood into the breed(WTF did the FPS have a say in this???). Exactly one of the foals turned out grey -- a stallion named Negus. After he had spent the first twelve years of his life un-trained, he changed hands. His new owner, Sylvia Parduhn, started schooling him and was very pleased with his "bomb-proof" character, which allowed her to start riding a stallion at this advanced age. Parduhn also bred several mares with him, and again, one of the foals turned out a grey stallion -- Nero, the now fourteen-year-old horse who impressed the Equitana crowds not only with his color but also with his exceptional gaits. Parduhn, who runs a stable for holidaymakers near Fulda, was very happy to see that Negus had passed on his impeccable character to his son, and so she uses him to breed the pretty and character-sound horses she needs for her farm. She does show him at competitions occasionally, and he has earned one M- and several L-ribbons. Nero is not a licensed stallion, however, and taking a look at his offspring, it is unlikely that he -- a three-quarter Friesian -- will become the sire of a new breed of white Friesians(Thank God, the black pearls should stay black) So far, he has one son -- by a Trakehner mare -- who is a five-year-old pinto and will very probably turn completely white(what are these lippizans now?). Other than that, his offspring come in all colors -- and Nero remains one of a kind. Text and Photos copyrighted: Barbara Schnell for Eurodressage.com Related Link Mind Blowing Equitana 2007 Fighting Windmills, Friesian Style Archived Focus Articles in The Gathering

And they say to be passing this off as a "Friesians" when its not... This Nero has like negative Friesian in him(oh my mistake 1/3) and there like Ohh White Friesian!!!! Any cross that far out could be purple for all we care. He isn't "one of a kind" he's a cross and there are many like him out there that have Friesian in them but its not like he is that special because a cross came out white. The Friesain gene(i'm not taking about the "black" color gene) is recessive so feathers, movement and thier true black-ness will not usually follow a crossed offspring, anything can happen. I'm a big Friesian enthusist so Friesians keep on being the black beauties you are and have been.

Seriously, how can you people live like that.

OHH EEM GEE! CZXGHERTUSAGFYAYIRCVKKCVSYIEWBHSEHF Well. I was watching Clean House: Messiest House In The Country 3 and oh yeah, it was a rip-out-your-eyes and throw them at the TV one. Damn, this family of like two people who have a lot of rooms just, damn is the only word to use to describe it right now. How can these people live with themselves when they have piles amoung piles and rooms and rooms filled up to friggen yin yang with stuff and more stuff! I'd kill myself. And the mother was so uhhg, no words to describe. Goodness just clean up and throw stuff away. They had to use a warehouse to put all the stuff in for the yard sale, and this was a BIG warehouse. This whole episode I wanted to jump inside the TV and slap them in the face, hard. Yet I still love that show. :-D Their house turned out awesome in the end though, but it was hell before. xD

Well Yeah, I'm New!

Duh! my wonderful title explains all so there really is not a point to write a big long intro right now. There will be time for that later. Just a few things to say, my name is Mel, I love horses and I love photography. Tada! I hope you enjoyed my little ity bity message. :-D
